Remodel A Bathroom

Remodeling a bathroom is no easy feat. Let’s get that understood right off the bat.

It doesn’t matter what you’re ultimately planning on doing, bathroom remodeling experts are always going to tell you it’s a much a longer and more complicated job than you are likely anticipating in your head.

Homeowners just like you are often taken aback by the real-time assessments for a bathroom remodel estimate because most folks just aren’t fully aware of what goes into the project.

There’s also no such thing as a “typical” remodeling job, while it’s true that many projects may have common facets among them, every job is very different and unique in the various challenges and problems that need to be solved.

This is all dependent, of course, on the house or apartment that is being worked on.

How old is the dwelling? Is it susceptible to certain environmental conditions and impacts? How much wear and tear or outright damage is there to repair before work is completed?

These are just some of the many factors that must be considered as a contractor approaches a new job.

They will also have an effect on the initial estimate and the eventual timeline as work begins.

You can’t foresee every potential obstacle that might emerge during the job either, so this could add some time to the project as well.

Most contractors try to give you a realistic outlook on the length of time necessary for finishing the job, but they also try to remind their clients that an estimate is just that…an estimated and educated guess as to the time-frame for finishing that remodeling project.

So let’s take a look at the various steps needed for most remodeling jobs and the time-frames necessary for the completion of each.

Again, these are just the average times and your project may require longer or possibly shorter times.

Tear Down

This is the important first step of any remodeling job because the contractor needs to analyze the room and explore the types of materials that are being used in its makeup.

Based on the findings of these materials, this could affect the time-frame of your project.

But once the contractor is ready to start the initial tear down phase, then precautionary measures are implemented to maintain the structural integrity of the space.

After that, demolition begins.

Depending on the size of the project, tear down could easily take anywhere from two to four days to complete.

Plumbing and Electrical

Now that everything has been torn away and all the innards of your bathroom have been exposed, plumbing and electrical experts can start doing their assessments of the condition of the pipes and other plumbers’ checkpoints, while your electricians can examine the wiring in the room.

If everything looks all right and there are no major issues to manage, this can all be typically wrapped up in about one to three days.

Tile Prep

This step varies based on the size and shape of the tiles you’ve chosen to have installed.

Your tile choice may also require the added steps of adjusting the walls in the room through straightening procedures.

New doors and windows as wall niches are all put in during this stage while the tiling bed will be laid down and must be allowed to dry entirely.

You’re looking at about two to three days at this stage of the project.

Wall and Ceiling Sheets

Here is where your drywall sheeting is put up for the walls and ceilings of your new bathroom.

The contractor will know what type you need and it should be readily available for installation when the installers get to this stage of the project.

It’s not a tough job, so it should only take a day or two at most.

Waterproofing

This is the bathroom after all and so that tiling bed needs to be made watertight so leaks don’t get under the tiles and cause serious water damage.

Showers, sinks, tubs, anything that can produce water must be sealed.

After the contractor is done with the waterproofing procedur威而鋼
es, it must be allowed to dry completely just like the tilting bed.

But even with that being the case, it’s about two to three days’ time to complete this part of the process.

Laying Tile

This is probably the longest part of the process due to the delicate nature of the job. The tiles must be cut properly and carefully laid out.

Depending on the size of the bathroom and the amount of tile within it, you could be looking at anywhere from five to seven days for this step to be finished.

After they’ve been installed, they need to be grouted and silicone. This is another two to three days.

Painting

Now that virtually everything in the room is fully installed and been allowed to dry and settle, painting the room shouldn’t take too long.

This can be finished in about a day, maybe two at most for the big projects.
